CARIBANA FESTIVAL

Caribana is a festival of Caribbean culture and traditions held each summer in the city of Toronto. Annually Caribana draws hundreds of thousands of tourists from around the globe to Toronto’s lakeshore. Caribana is a Caribbean Carnival event, that has been billed as North America’s largest street festival.

THE ROAD TO ASIA FESTIVAL

The Road to Asia Festival – is a celebration of Asian Culture held on November 1 & 2 at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Center on Garamond Court, Toronto. The festival creates a thriving multi-cultural atmosphere in which individual cultures highlight traditional Food, Arts and Crafts, Music, Dance and Martial Arts.

HALLOWEEN ‘08 ON CHURCH STREET

Halloween Festivities – portions of church street was closed to vehicular traffic on October 31 to celebrate one of the biggest halloween party in town. It was open to public and was flocked with mostly tourist spectators all decked out in costume and glitter. This is one festival celebration in T.O.

Zombies in Condoland – is only a part of the city’s large scale performance by Canadian artist Jillian McDonald. The city comes alive and colourful with the Zombies loitering around Yonge & College Park.

BUSKERFEST
Buskerfest is what could be called as the last but not the least major festival in Toronto this summer. With a donation of choice in support of Epilepsy Toronto, the historic St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood - along Front Street, between Church and Jarvis was filled with “BUSKERS” with thousands of spectators.

PRIDE PARADE 2008
UNIFIED, is this year’s theme of the biggest Gay Pride Festival in the world.  This summer, Toronto celebrates diversity of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender/transsexual) as they marched along the city on June 28 & 29. Often touted as being one of the largest cultural festivals in North America, Pride Week event is organized by a non-profit organization called “Pride Toronto”. It features several stages with live performers and DJs, several licensed venues, a large Dyke March and Pride Parade.

CANADA DAY

Canada Day celebrated every 1st of July was formerly called Dominion Day. It is also referred to as “Canada’s birthday”. It is Canada’s national day and a federal statutory holiday. It is being observed not only in Canada but also internationally. This year Canada is 141 years old.

LES MISÉRABLES
Congratulations to the casts of Les Misérables from the Brampton Theatre School for the successful rendition of this epic story, School Edition. Les Miserables which was originally adapted from Victor Hugo’s novel recounts the struggle against adversity in the 19th century France. On June 27 & 28, these talented young actors and actresses made their debut to Toronto and have received a standing ovation round of applause for their excellent performance at the Winter Garden Theatre.
